Our Team
G. R. (Dick) Rush, CPA Founder and Managing Partner
• CPA: Certified Public Accountant, licensed in Tennessee
Founder and Managing Director, Dick Rush coordinates and directs the firm’s diverse business activities. His forty plus years of public accounting experience involving business and tax consultation have given rise to his expertise in the areas of negotiating sales and acquisitions of both small and large businesses, and estate tax planning and administration. Dick worked for eight years in the tax division of a national accounting firm before founding his own company, G. R. Rush & Company. Dick’s business philosophy can be summed up as two fundamental things - the absolute necessity of integrity and the value of the standards that a company embraces. “That’s why at Rush & Company, we set our standards of business well above the norm. We give our clients the same thing we want when we’re the clients – a job well done.”
Cathy W. Matthews, CPA Partner - Client Accounting
CPA: Certified Public Accountant, licensed in Tennessee
Cathy Matthews joined G. R. Rush and Company in 1982 developing expertise in overseeing the bookkeeping and client accounting functions of the firm. With over twenty-five years of experience in public accounting, she has a strong background in financial reporting, and client accounting. Cathy is best known for the service she provides to her clients in a timely, accurate and reliable manner with a commitment to be involved and in tune to her clients' needs.
G. Larry Barrett, CPA Partner - Tax Services

Larry Barrett joined G. R. Rush & Company in 2005 after several years of owning and managing his own accounting practice in the North Georgia area. With over thirty years of accounting experience, Larry has a strong background in all areas of accounting including financial reporting for business, governmental and nonprofit organizations, audit and tax planning, compliance and preparation for individuals, business, nonprofits, trusts and estates. His primary interests now include business development and tax management for all clients.
David J. Distefano, CPA, CMA Partner - Financial Reporting

David DiStefano has worked in the Chattanooga business community for over twenty five years as a Certified Public Accountant in public practice.
